Senior Software Engineer

<p><strong>Realize your potential by joining the leading performance-driven advertising company!</strong></p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer on the Dynamic Creative Optimization team in our Budapest office, you’ll play a vital role in building and optimizing the large-scale infrastructure that powers one of Taboola’s revenue-driving systems. You’ll design and develop highly scalable backend services that process hundreds of thousands of real-time requests per second while enabling intelligent decision-making for one of the world’s largest advertising marketplaces. You’ll own complex engineering challenges end-to-end and directly influence products that reach hundreds of millions of users every day.</p> <p><strong>To thrive in this role, you’ll need:</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of backend software engineering experience developing production systems using Java or another object-oriented programming language (preferably Java 8+).</li> <li>Experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems and high-performance backend services.</li> <li>Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases in production environments.</li> <li>Solid understanding of web architectures, APIs, distributed systems, and scalable system design.</li> <li>Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or other large-scale data technologies.</li> <li>B.Sc. in Computer Science or an equivalent technical degree.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Bonus points if you have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Solid programming skills in Python</li> <li>Experience designing and operating telemetry, metrics collection, and alerting stacks at scale (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/logging).</li> <li>Practical background in optimizing infrastructure costs and resource efficiency across cloud and on-prem.</li> <li>Knowledge of machine learning, algorithms, data mining, or real-time bidding systems.</li> <li>Experience with Spark or HDFS.</li> </ul> <p><strong>How you’ll make an impact:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and optimize backend infrastructure supporting one of Taboola’s largest real-time data platforms.</li> <li>Own features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.</li> <li>Develop highly scalable services processing hundreds of thousands of requests per second and tens of terabytes of new data daily.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with experienced software engineers to solve complex distributed systems challenges.</li> <li>Build innovative platforms that improve real-time decision-making, experimentation, and marketplace performance.</li> <li>Drive technical excellence while influencing products that impact billions of content recommendations across the open web.</li> <li>Design and maintain monitoring and alerting setups to spot and address system health issues before they impact users.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Taboola?</strong></p> <p>If you ask Taboolars what they love about working here, they’ll tell you that they’ve been empowered to realize their full potential while growing and learning from and with smart and talented people.
