Stripe’s engineering teams build the business logic that powers all of this. As a software engineering manager at Stripe, you’ll lead teams that build and expand APIs, services, and experiences. You’ll also work with partners to launch new markets and vertical capabilities.</p>
<p>Stripe Terminal helps our users extend their online presence into the physical world. The Terminal team’s mission is to make accepting in-person payments as easy as the Stripe API has made accepting online payments—enabling unified commerce. With Terminal, businesses can unify their in-person and online experiences, unlocking payment use cases that fit their business models—whether they’re creating a modern retail experience, extending a website to a pop-up store, or enabling mobile point-of-sale payments at an event.</p>
<p>Within Terminal, the Enterprise team enables our largest and most influential merchants to scale their businesses globally through:</p>
<ul>
<li>Enterprise features, including in-person refunds, loyalty, and DCC</li>
<li>Enterprise-focused point-of-sale integrations</li>
<li>Vertical-specific payment methods, including SNAP EBT, Link integrations, merchant-specific QR payments, private-label credit cards and gift cards, and fleet fuel cards</li>
</ul>
<h3 id="what-youll-do">What you’ll do</h3>
<p>As an Engineering Manager on the Terminal Enterprise Features team, you’ll launch and scale merchant-specific features, build shared tooling for Terminal’s largest merchants, and partner with cross-functional teams across Stripe, including Go-to-Market, Legal, Design, and Product.</p>
<p>You’ll:</p>
<ul>
<li>Partner with Stripe leaders across the company to create and advance the vision for Stripe’s unified commerce offering, bringing in-person and online payments together</li>
<li>Set the roadmap and priorities for your team and coordinate dependencies across the company</li>
<li>Support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability</li>
<li>Develop processes that help the team do its best work and collaborate effectively with the rest of Stripe</li>
<li>Recruit excellent engineers in partnership with Stripe’s Recruiting team and develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers</li>
<li>Develop a deep understanding of core Stripe APIs and influence their design to work effectively with card-present payments while building a platform for unified commerce</li>
<li>Empower and guide your team to build and scale integrations and core abstractions across payment methods, gift cards, and point-of-sale connectors for large enterprises</li>
<li>Deliver essential enterprise features such as DCC and in-person refunds</li>
</ul>
<h3 id="who-you-are">Who you are</h3>

<h4 id="minimum-requirements">Minimum requirements</h4>
<ul>
<li>5+ years of experience in engineering leadership across mobile, API, and backend development teams, with demonstrated broad technical leadership</li>
<li>Experience building diverse teams to tackle challenging technical problems</li>
<li>An understanding of AI’s impact and a strong product mindset, with the ability to turn emerging capabilities into clear customer and business value</li>
<li>Experience thriving in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject-matter experts</li>
<li>Experience building and managing scalable, resilient, and observable systems across the stack</li>
<li>The ability to listen well, internalize the best ideas from across the organization, and set a vision that others are excited to support</li>
<li>The ability to put yourself in the shoes of Stripe’s merchants and users</li>
<li>Experience leading large technical projects with internal and external dependencies and impact across multiple teams</li>
</ul>
<h4 id="preferred-qualifications">Preferred qualifications</h4>
<ul>
<li>Industry experience building, or managing teams that have built, in-person checkout experiences or payment-method integrations</li>
<li>Experience with in-person payment hardware and software, such as card readers and firmware</li>
<li>A deep understanding of the payments industry</li>
