Stripe’s Local Payment Methods (LPM) business is one of our fastest-growing payments businesses.</p> <p>LPM Foundations builds and operates the core platform that enables Stripe’s Local Payment Method teams—and their first- and third-party developers—to build, integrate, and run high-quality payment methods at scale. We turn complex product integrations into reusable, self-service platform capabilities so teams can launch new LPMs faster and reduce the long-term cost of operating them.</p> <p>This is a payments role with a platform and AI focus. We are building the foundations, interfaces, and workflows that let product and engineering teams use AI effectively to accelerate development, improve decisions, and scale reliable payments experiences globally.</p> <h2>What you’ll do</h2> <p>As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the LPM Foundations team at the center of Stripe’s long-term payments growth strategy. You will translate regional and strategic priorities into a focused platform roadmap, shape technical direction with your team, and drive execution across the systems behind critical payment flows. You will be deeply involved in engineering and design, while coaching, mentoring, and creating the conditions for an effective, inclusive team.</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Set the vision and roadmap for platform capabilities that help LPM teams build, integrate, and operate payment methods at scale.</li> <li>Lead engineers in designing and delivering reliable, self-service foundations that simplify complex integrations and speed up launches.</li> <li>Build an AI-first engineering organization: develop the platform hooks and working practices that enable agentic development and help teams use AI to improve execution and product-engineering decisions.</li> <li>Partner closely with customers, engineering, product, partnerships, legal, operations, and other stakeholders to align priorities and deliver end-to-end outcomes.</li> <li>Drive clear technical and architectural decisions with staff engineers, balancing reliability, extensibility, velocity, and regional payments complexity.</li> <li>Lead and improve the team’s operating processes so it can execute effectively and engage well with the rest of Stripe.</li> <li>Recruit, develop, and retain great engineers; support their growth and help build a challenging, supportive, and inclusive team culture.</li> <li>Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team.</li> </ul> <h2>Who you are</h2> <p>We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.</p> <h2>Minimum requirements</h2> <ul> <li>At least 5 years of experience managing teams that shipped high-quality products.</li> <li>An entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility in an ambiguous environment.</li> <li>A track record of recruiting, developing, and building great engineering teams.</li> <li>The ability to work effectively across functions, think rigorously, communicate clearly, and make or coordinate hard decisions and trade-offs.</li> <li>Technical acumen to partner with staff engineers on architecture and technical strategy.</li> <li>Experience creating a healthy and inclusive work environment that is both challenging and supportive.</li> </ul> <h2>Preferred qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Experience building platforms, developer products, or large-scale distributed systems.</li> <li>Experience applying AI to software development, engineering workflows, or product delivery, with strong judgment about where it creates durable value.</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills for leadership, users, and company-wide audiences.</li> <li>A strong quantitative and analytical background.</li> <li>Experience leading fully remote or distributed teams.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p>
