<h3>About the team</h3>
<p>The Commercial Experiences Engineering team is part of the Commerce Systems organization at Stripe. We focus on ensuring that our users, both internal and external, have a best-in-class experience with billing at Stripe. This includes working on the systems and processes needed to bill our largest and most complex customers, as well as designing and delivering experiences to help guide users through their billing, from fee explainability to deep diving on product usage optimization. We are a cross-functional technical team that seeks to bring clarity to a complex space. The team is at the crux of all Stripe products and builds user-facing as well as internal infrastructure.</p>
<p>We build platforms and services to define and manage pricing, calculate and collect Stripe's revenue, and empower Stripe and our users to understand and manage revenue and costs. We work on customer-facing experiences, internal platforms, and data pipelines to empower Accounting, Finance, Strategy, Sales, and Stripe's Products to drive business value across the entire user and product lifecycle.</p>
<h2>What you’ll do</h2>
<p>We are seeking an experienced technical leader to join our India-based team and drive the technical roadmap for Commercial Experiences Engineering, collaborating deeply with partner teams across Commerce Systems in the US, EMEA, and India. In this role, you will work closely with engineering managers, senior engineers, and cross-functional partners to help design architecture, ensure technical excellence, and break down complex problems to make them more tractable with engineering teams. You will be involved in the building of the technical bench, mentoring and growing the next senior engineers within the broader organisation.</p>
<p>You will work cross-functionally to align on the business challenges in delivering excellent billing and accounting experiences to our users. Often this will include influencing across organizations and grounding your arguments in solid data and a technical roadmap. As such, you will have excellent technical leadership and communication skills.</p>
<p>You will also be hands-on in building key systems, while mentoring and leading other engineers. Join us in driving change in an area with tremendous opportunity.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Manage the technical leadership, execution, and roadmap for Commercial Experiences Engineering.</li>
<li>Work cross-functionally with business leaders across the company as well as partner engineering teams.</li>
<li>Partner closely with engineering, product, and design leadership to define our product strategy and user experience.</li>
<li>Ensure our platform solutions and user billing data are high quality, meet the needs of our internal users, and position us to meet Stripe's growth.</li>
<li>Drive interoperability across platforms in User Billing and integrations across Stripe with product, accounting, sales, finance, and data science teams.</li>
<li>Scrutinize billing interfaces and data models, elevating our focus on correctness and ease of use within User Billing.</li>
<li>Establish best practices, frameworks, and repeatable processes that enable the team to execute effectively.</li>
<li>Foster a culture of learning and data-driven decision making on the team and to influence the broader organization.</li>
<li>Mentor and support the growth of engineers at different levels in their careers.</li>

<h3>Minimum requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>10+ years of hands-on experience building large-scale, distributed systems.</li>
<li>Proven track record of building large-scale, complex distributed systems; identifying shortcomings and optimization opportunities; and making data-driven cost performance tradeoffs to influence design decisions.</li>
<li>Experience building and operating infrastructure and tools that empower developers/product teams to deliver business value.</li>
<li>Experience influencing company strategy at the intersection of business needs and technology (you measure your success in terms of business impact, not lines of code).</li>
<li>Experience leading and creating strong technical teams that balance operational excellence, collaboration, and user needs.</li>
<li>Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.</li>
<li>Are effective in giving and receiving constructive feedback to/from peers and team members.</li>
<li>Past experience mentoring and investing in the development of engineers.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Preferred qualifications</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Prior experience in the financial technology space, particularly in payment processing, accounting, or financial reporting.</span></li>
