<p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Travel up to 75% of the time to Chicago, to perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies at supplier sites</li>
<li>Select and utilize standard gauges to ensure quality</li>
<li>Inspect feature tolerances by selecting the tool with the required accuracy</li>
<li>Perform complex inspections on purchased mechanical parts, components, assemblies and materials</li>
<li>Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirements</li>
<li>Inspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry standards, and SpaceX specifications</li>
<li>Ensure that all parts meet SpaceX specifications and standards or that any non-conformance is documented at the supplier</li>
<li>Support the development of inspection plans at suppliers</li>
<li>Support supplier corrective action process, including verifying corrective action implementation</li>
<li>Provide support to both internal and external stakeholders on SpaceX requirements and inspection processes</li>
<li>Collaborate with teams, lead projects, and drive continuous improvement of processes both internally and at our suppliers</li>
<li>Program and set up Articulating Arm (ex. Romer), CMMs to achieve the desired inspections</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalency certificate</li>
<li>3+ years of precision mechanical inspection experience</li>
<li>3+ years of CMM programming, CMM operations, or Faro Arm experience</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Aerospace precision inspection experience</li>
<li>Practical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001)</li>
<li>CMM Programming with PC-DMIS software</li>
<li>Romer Arm experience with Verisurf software</li>
<li>Basic understanding of electronics inspection and propulsion valve operation</li>
<li>Solid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel</li>
<li>Statistical process control experience</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specification using ASME Y14.5. GD&T and skillful use of metrology tools and gauge</li>
<li>Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing priorities and tasks as delegated</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted</li>
<li>Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position</li>
<li>Must be able to travel - up to 75% work week travel may be required</li>
<li>Position may involve overtime, long hours and weekend work as needed with occasional overnight work may be required when traveling to suppliers</li>
<li>Frequent travel to suppliers around Chicago area required; valid driver’s license mandatory</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: </strong><br><br>Pay range: <br>Source Inspector/Level 1: $30.00 - $38.00/hour <br>Source Inspector/Level 2: $34.00 - $43.00/hour <br>Source Inspector/Level 3: $38.00 - $48.00/hour</p>
<p>Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.</p>
<p>Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
