Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.</p></div><p><strong>CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER</strong></p>
<p>As a member of the construction projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at Starbase as well as other SpaceX facilities. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facility improvements, and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in South Texas (Brownsville/South Padre Island area).</p>
<p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Oversee and own the full lifecycle of multidisciplinary construction projects to achieve on-time and under-budget delivery with customer satisfaction. The following project management responsibilities are applicable:
<ul>
<li>Provide guidance and input on preliminary scope/customer requests, including rough order of magnitude (ROM) costs</li>
<li>Gather proposals from architects, engineers, vendors, or contractors</li>
<li>Evaluate competitive bids as appropriate</li>
<li>Review proposals for accuracy, identify and track cost-saving suggestions or improvements</li>
<li>Recommend the best path of action</li>
<li>Develop the final cost and schedule for the project</li>
<li>Implement controls as needed to track and manage cost, schedule, and scope</li>
<li>Write and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out</li>
<li>Facilitate city, county, and regulatory approvals</li>
<li>Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time</li>
<li>Manage the overall site safety and environmental requirements for contractors</li>
<li>Track and approve invoicing of work</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Manage all aspects of multi-disciplinary construction projects in the field</li>
<li>Provide daily coordination to contractors working across the entire facility and coordinate critical path work to maintain project schedules</li>
<li>Plan construction activities with facility operators to avoid delays to facility operations</li>
<li>Perform daily quality inspection and verification of contractor's progress and observe critical operations to ensure quality</li>
<li>Ensure contractors follow site and OSHA safety standards while performing work</li>
<li>Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time</li>
<li>Manage night shift/early morning contractors as project work requires</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management with 1+ years of experience working in the field on construction projects, or 5+ years of commercial construction experience considered in lieu of degree</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations; ability to mark up and highlight coordination items</li>
<li>Proficiency in calculating percent grade, calculating volumes, and establishing and using site benchmarks</li>
<li>Experience in performing topographic, construction staking, and as-builts using GPS and/or total station equipment</li>
<li>Experience installing civil infrastructure such as utilities, and structural concrete</li>
<li>Ability to manage priorities and multiple projects at once with minimal guidance</li>
<li>Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management</li>
<li>Experience in directing work in the field between trades and contractors</li>
<li>Experience in using AutoCAD or Revit</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span class="s4">Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required</span></li>
<li><span class="s4">Ability to work at elevated heights (200+ feet)</span></li>
<li><span class="s4">Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs. unassisted)</span></li>
<li><span class="s4">Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain</span></li>
<li><span class="s4">Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise</span></li>
<li><span class="s4">Must be able to climb ladders and work in tight spaces</span></li>
<li><span class="s4">Valid driver's license</span></li>
<li><span class="s4">Occasional travel may be required to support projects at other sites (up to 15%)</span></li>
