<p>As a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment, the Game Development & Future Technology (GDFT) organization is leading the cloud gaming and development revolution, putting console-quality video games on any device!</p>
<p>As a Senior Software Engineer on the Cloud Streaming Game Services (CSGS) team, you’ll play a key role in the design and development of server-side applications on a large geographically distributed infrastructure.<br><br></p>
<h2><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Responsibilities</span></h2>
<ul>
<li>Design, develop, and maintain software powering the globally distributed PlayStation Cloud Streaming infrastructure</li>
<li>Build Kubernetes controllers, operators, and system services powering infrastructure lifecycle management and orchestration</li>
<li>Own features from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support</li>
<li>Develop high-quality, maintainable code with comprehensive unit and integration testing</li>
<li>Partner with SRE, Test and Platform Engineering to deliver reliable production services</li>
<li>Investigate and resolve production issues with a focus on reliability and performance</li>
<li>Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design documents, and engineering standards</li>
<li>Effectively communicate technical approaches, project status, risks, estimates, and dependencies</li>
<li>Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Codex, Claude, etc) to accelerate design, implementation, documentation, and debugging while maintaining engineering quality through sound technical judgment and code review</li>
<li>Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and automation opportunities that improve engineering velocity, reliability, and operational efficiency</li>
</ul>
<h2><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Requirements</span></h2>
<ul>
<li>BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience</li>
<li>7+ years of professional software development experience </li>
<li>Experience designing, implementing, and operating production software systems</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems spanning software and infrastructure</li>
<li>Passion for building reliable, maintainable, and highly automated systems</li>
</ul>
<h2><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Skills & Knowledge</span></h2>
<ul>
<li>Strong experience developing production software in Rust</li>
<li>Experience building applications or controllers on Kubernetes</li>
<li>Experience developing software on Linux</li>
<li>Proficiency with Git and modern software development workflows</li>
<li>Familiarity with container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes</li>
<li>Experience debugging complex distributed applications</li>
<li>Experience writing automated unit and integration tests</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li>
<li>Knowledge of observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, OTel, or OpenSearch</li>
<li>Experience working with modern AI-assisted software development tools to improve productivity while applying critical engineering review and validation</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Understanding of distributed systems concepts including concurrency, asynchronous programming, event-driven architectures, fault tolerance and consistency models</li>
</ul>
<h2><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Additional Attributes</span></h2>
<ul>
<li>Familiarity with Java or C++</li>
<li>Familiar with Agile development concepts</li>
<li>Comfortable working across software, infrastructure, networking, and hardware domains</li>
<li>Experience with infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, AWX, or GitOps workflows</li>
<li>Ability to thrive in an environment with evolving requirements and technical challenges</li>
<li>Strong communication and documentation skills</li>
<li>Contribution to the open-source community (ie. blogs, source code, etc)</li>
</ul>
