<h2><strong>About the Role</strong></h2>
<h3>As a <strong>Senior Data Engineer</strong>, you’ll build reliable ingestion and transformation pipelines, implement automated quality checks, and ensure downstream systems can trust the data they depend on. Working within a .Monks delivery team, you’ll collaborate with clients, engineers, and product teams while using AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex as part of your everyday workflow.</h3>
<h3><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Build and maintain ingestion and transformation pipelines across diverse data sources</li>
<li>Develop automated validation and integrity checks that identify data issues early</li>
<li>Model and move data across relational and analytical stores to support reliable downstream systems</li>
<li>Monitor pipeline health and troubleshoot data quality and performance issues</li>
<li>Design pipelines that are reliable, scalable, and observable</li>
<li>Review human- and AI-generated code for quality, correctness, and consistency</li>
<li>Collaborate with engineers and product teams to define and implement data quality standards</li>
<li>Communicate data quality risks and technical concepts clearly to clients and non-technical stakeholders</li>
<li>Identify and resolve the root causes of pipeline and data integrity issues</li>
<li>Use AI coding agents to accelerate engineering workflows while maintaining high quality standards</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
<h2><strong>About You</strong></h2>
<h3><strong>Qualifications & Skills</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>5+ years</strong> of relevant experience in data engineering or backend engineering</li>
<li>Advanced proficiency in at least one core language, preferably TypeScript/Node.js or Python</li>
<li>Strong SQL and data modeling skills across relational and analytical data stores</li>
<li>Solid understanding of data ingestion, ETL, transformation, and pipeline architecture</li>
<li>Experience designing scalable data validation, integrity, and quality checks</li>
<li>Experience building and operating data solutions on AWS</li>
<li>Fluency working alongside AI coding agents, such as Claude Code or Codex, and reviewing AI-generated code</li>
<li>Rigorous approach to data correctness, reliability, and observability</li>
<li>Strong ownership mindset and practical root-cause problem-solving skills</li>
<li>Strong English communication skills, including the ability to explain data quality concepts to non-specialists</li>
<li>Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, and product teams</li>
<li>Comfort working in a fast-paced, agile consulting environment</li>
