Join us!</p></div><p><strong>Overview</strong></p> <p data-start="229" data-end="555">Mesh is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to help architect and build the foundation of the world’s first global crypto payments network. In this role, you’ll operate across the full stack — from backend systems to user-facing applications — driving key technical decisions and shaping the future of digital finance. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and design to lead the development of secure, seamless, and scalable financial experiences. As one of our most senior technical leaders, you’ll play a critical role in defining system architecture, mentoring engineers, and influencing product strategy. We’re especially excited to meet candidates based in Bangalore, where you’ll collaborate closely with our core team and help drive our engineering culture from the ground up.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own and drive the roadmap, and implementation for multiple areas of focus, balancing short- and long-term priorities against various business needs.</li> <li>Drive technical architecture decisions and system designs.</li> <li>Provide technical leadership across teams.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with leadership, product, and teams to set strategy.</li> <li>Develop and maintain backend services and APIs.</li> <li>Work closely with Azure cloud services for deployment and scalability.</li> <li>Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and prompt resolution of software defects.</li> <li>Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.</li> <li>Create high-quality, efficient, and reliable code following best practices.</li> <li>Optimize performance and scalability of backend systems for handling large data volumes.</li> <li>Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in fintech/crypto and backend development.</li> <li>Build crypto first and secure products to facilitate traditional financial activity, such as payments, transfers etc.</li> <li>Drive software best practices and architectural considerations on a project-wide level.</li> <li>Champion best practices in software engineering, infrastructure as code, and DevSecOps.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Who You Are</strong></p> <ul> <li>10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in fintech or payments infrastructure.</li> <li>Strong backend skills in one or more of: C#, C++, Go, Java, Python.</li> <li>Proficiency in cloud-native development (Azure), Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD tooling.</li> <li>A security first mindset: with good knowledge of common security concepts such as AuthN, AuthZ, SAML, API security, encryption etc</li> <li>An understanding of crypto concepts such as blockchains, RPCs, self custody wallets etc.</li> <li>Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture.</li> <li>Prior experience leading engineering in a high-growth startup environment is a plus.</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make critical decisions under pressure.</li> <li>A passion for innovation, learning, and growth. This expectation may vary slightly depending on role, team, and business needs. Certain roles that require closer cross-functional collaboration or operational support may have additional in-office requirements, which will be discussed during the interview process.
