HumanSignal is recruiting actors, voice actors, improv performers, and live entertainers to take part in a paid research study. We record people doing everyday tasks and talking naturally so that researchers can study and improve how AI understands real human behavior. If you can take a script, make it sound like real conversation, and move naturally on camera, you can do this work.</p> <h3><strong>Compensation and logistics</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Pay: $75/hour, paid within a week of each session.</li> <li>Type: Temporary, recurring gig work. Book one session or many.</li> <li>Training: Your first session is a paid four-hour training session at the full rate. You’ll learn the format through table reads and start recording scenes the same day.</li> <li>Residencies: Performers who stand out in their sessions may be invited to a residency for 40 hours/week. Residencies are by invitation based on performance and reliability, not guaranteed.</li> <li>Location: Virtual screening, then in-person recording at local studios.</li> <li>Dates: Now through December 2026. Weekday, evening, and weekend slots are available.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What you will do</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Perform scripted scenes of everyday household activities, like cooking, tidying, and folding laundry, in a staged home environment.</li> <li>Talk with a voice assistant as you work through each scene. The dialogue is scripted, but it needs to sound natural and unrehearsed, with room to make it your own.</li> <li>Bring the skills you already have. Cold reading, character work, and delivering lines while doing something with your hands are exactly what we’re looking for.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Who we are looking for</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Age 18 or older, located in or near Hoboken, NJ. Performers across the NYC metro area are welcome to apply.&nbsp;</li> <li>Acting, improv, or performance experience at any level, including classes, student troupes, community theatre, open mics, voice work, or live entertainment. Aspiring and amateur performers are encouraged to apply.</li> <li>Comfortable being recorded on camera and audio for a full session.</li> <li>Reliable and on time for scheduled sessions.</li> </ul> <p>We welcome performers of all backgrounds and experience levels. A wide range of voices, speech patterns, and physical presence makes the research more representative of the real world.</p> <h3><strong>How it works</strong></h3> <ol> <li>Apply with your name, email, phone number, and a link to sample work.</li> <li>We’ll reach out to schedule a 15-minute screening call on Zoom or Google Meet.</li> <li>If you’re a fit, book your first session, a paid four-hour training session. Evenings and weekends are available.</li> <li>Get paid within a week and book more sessions if you want them. Strong performers may be invited into a weekly residency.</li> </ol> <h3><strong>This is a research study</strong></h3> <p>Every participant signs a plain-language research agreement before any recording. It states exactly how your recordings are used, and you can ask us anything about it before you commit.</p> <ul> <li>HumanSignal conducts research projects that record people doing everyday tasks in staged environments in order to develop and improve AI and machine learning technologies.</li> <li>We will not use your name, image, likeness, or voice to advertise, market, or promote any product or service without your separate written consent.</li> <li>Your recordings are not shared publicly, and they are not used to clone your face or voice or to create synthetic media of you.</li> </ul>
