<p><strong>What you’ll do</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Engineer and maintain our core money platform capabilities, focusing on high availability, security, and scalability.</li>
<li>You take ownership of your team’s operations and availability by ensuring you have the right monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing and alerting in place to support “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.</li>
<li>You will support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.</li>

<p><strong>What we’re looking for</strong></p>
<p>We value engineers who are passionate about building resilient, trustworthy financial systems and are excited to solve complex problems in the money domain.</p>
<p><strong>Basic Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Proficiency in backend programming languages like Java or Go.</li>
<li>Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis).</li>
<li>Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.</li>
<li>Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.</li>
<li>Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>3+ years</strong> of professional software engineering experience, with significant time spent in <strong>payments, billing, or financial technology</strong>.</li>
<li>Deep understanding of the <strong>payment processing lifecycle</strong>, including authorization, capture, settlement, and reconciliation.</li>
<li>Direct experience with <strong>payment gateways</strong> (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, PayPal).</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in architecting and operating <strong>large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems</strong> that handle financial data.</li>
<li>Knowledge of <strong>fraud detection techniques</strong> and experience building or integrating with risk management systems.</li>

<p><strong>What else you need to know</strong></p>
<p>This role is based in our New York office. Atoms is a company driven by invention and continuous change - we are constantly reimagining our industries, building new products, and refining how we operate. We do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week.</p>
<p>The base salary range for this role is<strong> $145,000 - $183,250 per year.</strong></p>
<p>Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.</p>
<p>Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus.</p>
