About the Role

Lead and scale multiple product engineering teams at a mission-driven K-12 education technology company. Reporting to the CTO, you will guide product engineering through its next stage of growth while staying hands-on with technical work.

What You'll Do

  • Lead multiple product squads focused on scheduling, visibility and reporting, and elementary school experiences.

  • Contribute code, review changes, and pair with engineers, with an initial balance of hands-on work and leadership that shifts toward leadership over time.

  • Make and communicate architecture decisions that support a robust, scalable platform.

  • Partner with product and other cross-functional teams to set squad goals and align engineering priorities with business outcomes.

  • Deliver high-value product features ahead of the school scheduling season, including AI-powered capabilities.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of engineering experience and 2 to 3 or more years managing multiple engineering teams, including experience scaling teams and managing managers.

  • Experience owning product or business outcomes such as delivery speed, quality, growth, or retention.

  • Strong backend architecture and design skills, with a willingness to remain hands-on.

  • Experience in K-12 education technology or related learning and teaching fields, ideally on mission-driven initiatives.

  • Proficiency with TypeScript or Python and experience with React, AWS, and MongoDB.

  • Ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes, work through ambiguity, and align cross-functional partners.

  • Experience learning and applying AI, and willingness to travel for occasional company retreats and business needs.
