The Mission

What does it take to build a seamless mobile experience for one of the world’s largest annual festivals celebrating music, film, and technology? Join a high-impact mobile engineering engagement with Penske Media, leading the architecture and delivery of a custom iOS and Android application that replaces a white-label vendor solution.

You’ll shape the technical direction of a high-traffic React Native app, ensuring attendees can navigate the festival, manage authentication and badge-linking flows, and make reservations reliably—even during massive traffic spikes and challenging event connectivity.

The Role

• Mobile Architecture & React Native Development: Lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of a production-grade React Native application for iOS and Android, ensuring scalability, performance, maintainability, and a seamless attendee experience.
• Native iOS & Android Engineering: Work hands-on with native platform technologies, including Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java, to implement custom native modules, platform-specific functionality, and reliable integrations.
• Authentication & Account Integration: Design and implement secure SSO, OAuth 2.0, SAML, and account/badge-linking flows, ensuring a smooth and secure authentication experience across the application.
• Integrations & Mobile Features: Integrate services such as Airship push notifications, Google Maps SDK, iOS Universal Links, and Android App Links, identifying API, data, and integration gaps before they impact delivery.
• Offline Capabilities & Performance: Architect robust offline caching and state management to support reliable app experiences in areas with poor connectivity, while preparing for significant traffic spikes when reservations open.
• CI/CD & App Store Releases: Own the end-to-end mobile release process, including CI/CD configuration, code signing, testing, and submission through the Apple App Store and Google Play, ensuring the app is ready for a fixed launch deadline.
• Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Define engineering standards, conduct code reviews, guide architectural decisions, and work closely with client stakeholders to identify risks, resolve technical blockers, and keep delivery on track.

The "Must-Haves"

• Senior-level experience building, architecting, and maintaining high-traffic React Native applications in production.
• Hands-on native mobile development experience with iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java), including custom native modules and platform-specific code.
• Proven ownership of mobile application releases, including CI/CD, code signing, and App Store / Google Play submissions.
• Direct production experience implementing SSO, OAuth 2.0, SAML, and account or badge-linking flows.
• Experience integrating push notification services such as Airship, Google Maps SDK, iOS Universal Links, and Android App Links.
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture for high traffic and unreliable connectivity, including offline caching, state management, and performance optimization.
• Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture ownership, code reviews, engineering standards, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to identify and escalate API, data, integration, and delivery risks early.

The "Bonus" Skills

• Experience building accessible mobile interfaces that comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
• Background developing high-traffic consumer applications in event management, ticketing, entertainment, or live media.
• Experience replacing a white-label mobile application with a custom-built React Native solution.
• Experience managing mobile applications with complex authentication, third-party integrations, and time-sensitive releases.
• Familiarity with performance monitoring, crash reporting, and reliability strategies for applications supporting large user populations.
